Jan: “Working for NHL and later NHL Stenden over the past few years has been a wonderful experience for me. I have always been driven to exploit the full potential of our universities of applied sciences, so as to provide high-quality education and make a fundamental contribution to students and our educational community. Of course, I didn’t do it all by myself – it was a team effort all the way, and I would like to thank all my colleagues who have worked with me in recent years in our shared commitment to offering our students the best possible educational experience. Since higher vocational education has always been close to my heart, I am delighted to become the Chairman of the Executive Board of the ‘greenest’ university of applied sciences in the Netherlands. It will provide me with the unique opportunity to develop further and remain true to my educational principles.”
Erica Schaper: “Jan played a key role in preparing the merger between our institutions, and as a member of the NHL Stenden Executive Board he made a very valuable contribution to the further growth and development of our new university of applied sciences. We are very grateful to him for this contribution and will miss his commitment and dedication. As someone who lives and breathes education, Jan maintains close ties to students and lecturers. He has a knack for linking policy and educational practice in the most natural way, with recent examples including the educational policy and quality targets he developed together with lecturers and students.
As the Chairman of the Executive Board, I am proud that Jan will be joining the Executive Board of Van Hall Larenstein. Klaas-Wybo and I wish him every success in this new stage of his career and look forward to continuing our collaboration in promoting and raising the profile of Friesland province.”
